Jill of all trades

Lately, do you find that your taste in books has changed? Like, did you once love fun chick lit, but now find yourself seeking out dramatic literary?

Those of you that have read my books know that I have two sides--Light and Dark. Of course, most of my books end up gray, but the tone of them is either Light or Dark. I can never decide which I like better, but I notice that at certain times, I skew.

Like, if I'm sad, I tend to write Light. If I'm deliriously happy, I write some depressing crap! haha. Right now I'm writing a book that is dark. One of my darkest. But you know, I love it.

What are you in the mood for right now? Light. Dark. Or somewhere in between?

Dark dark, always dark, with a peek of blue sky at the end.

I'm surprised you can write light when you're sad! How do you keep your brain from veering into the black?

That's a good question. I think that's why I end up gray. But I think with the funny and happy novels, they balance out my mood. But usually by the arc, there's drama that isn't all that light. But I like that. That way my happy books have more heart than you'd think.

Now my dark? They are sort of funny too. But still very dark.

I've been surprisingly light with my last few books. I miss the darkness. There's something poetic in it that can't be found in lighter books.

I always lean toward dark with fantasy but wrote a very light chick-lit book with a friend.

NEVER thought I'd write chick-lit but I actually really enjoyed writing it.

I bounce around like a superball...I love fun & light, then love dark and deep. It's part of why I'm always second guessing what I should write. I'm all of it. Right now I'm reading The Book Thief and WOW! wish I could do that with language! Just read Prom by Laurie Halse Anderson and it was a riot. Then I want to go that route. I'm a mess. haha

My light to dark reading ratio is probably about 10:1. I loves the funny.
