I've been writing non-stop lately and I don't think my schedule is going to let up anytime soon. I've finished and handed in a draft of the sequel to A NEED SO BEAUTIFUL (6/21/11). I think I'm okay to release the title now... (hope so) but the sequel is called A WANT SO WICKED (Summer 2012)
Beyond that I finished a new book that I'm crazy excited about. It's my longest novel, but I adore it because Pink Floyd is part of the inspiration there. (You ate a puzzle??) I also started a creepy YA horror series that I'm not going to try to explain because I'm not even sure where to start. Plus it might be offensive.
So I'm getting lots of writing done and soon I'll be preparing for the SCBWI's winter conference in NYC in January. You're going too, right?
I'm just wondering, what are you working on??

Ooh. More books to add to my TBR list. Yay!
I'm finishing up the last few fixin's on FLORA. (<-- what *I'm* excited about!) Hope to query no later than the first. I'm drinking more coffee than usual because I found a lucky penny when I was getting my coffee the other day and I'm convinced the luck is somewhere in those beans.
And "...not sure where to start, but it might be offensive"? Then no explanation after that? Are you SERIOUS?
Hi Suzanne, Saw your note on Twitter. I knooow! The net gets in the way of writing! Darn it all.
I'm working on book three, a contemporary - a ghost in a light house who may or may not get reincarnated. Check out the progress at my website, deannajewel.com and click the tab 'About Me'.
I'm also on FB so maybe we'll run into each other out there sometime! Keep up the good work!
Coffeelvnmom--Great Title for your WIP! And I'm a very superstitious person, so if you think those beans are magic, I'm right there with you! Good luck on querying! That was always my favorite part of the process. Let me know how it goes!!!
Thanks for stopping by Deanna. I loooove lighthouses (lots here on the Oregon coast) so that sounds great!!
Good luck and I'll check your progress :-)
I've been working non-stop on my new YA novel, Debris Dreams, which I hope will bring a much needed realistic SF touch to the YA market. It's got it all. Lasers, space suits, touching drama, wartime heroism, the trials and tumult of growing up. Also, the MC is a lesbian, so I work some GLBSAITQ issues in there too.
Though, it's in the future...so they're less of an issue than now. In fact, at one point I refer to the space marines sending letters home to boyfriends, girlfriends, and transfriends. :D
I'm outlining the fuck out of my NaNo project. Theoretically. I'm really looking forward to Need and Want, though! You are such a rockstar.
Also I insist you give us more details on the creepy YA horror series.
I am working on a YA Steampunk and a comic book script I plan on submitting to Vertigo.
I hope to be done with the Steampunk by Dec. so I can start editing.
I'm remodelling my WiP, which is a YA Contemporary.
I might just go NaNoWriMo on it. Lets see.
I love that title, btw - A Want So Wicked.
EEE! I can't wait for Need, it's going to be fantastic.
You scare me with how much you write, although a creepily offensive ya horror sounds good, so i encourage your workaholic tendencies.
As for me, I'm still working on the edits for the novel formerly known as sea rose red. That and outlining a ghost story maybe-mg, maybe-ya thingy.
Although, writing things without obvious sexual tension is hard. *ahem*
I'm working on hardcore plotting my novel so I can finish it during November. WOOOO.
And I am totally going to try to be down in NY for SCBWI. :)
DUDE. I so want to read the horror series!!!
I just got Cassandra WIP temporarily off my plate and onto agent's, and now I'm working on my first MG ghost story...hoping I can get it mostly written in between now and when I get my edits back of Kiss the Morning Star.
Gah, I wish I could do NYC. Maybe next year?
WOW. You all are working on some great stuff! Daaaaang.
And let's all meet up in NYC! Fun times!
You have me so intrigued with your creepy YA horror that might be offensive!
I'm finishing revisions on a YA Paranormal Romance/Murder Mystery and trying to decide which project I'm going to do for NaNo. At the moment it seems to be a tie between Space Zombies and a dark comedy in the vein of the movie Heathers.
I wish I could be as productive as you!
Valerie, first, anything with zombies gets a thumbs up from me, but then... HEATHERS?! Do them both! Nice work!
Ha spoken like someone accustomed to writing several books in a year! It is tempting though. Maybe I can NaNo two crappy first drafts? 100,000 words in a month? Oh my!
I'm working on a novel, short story, and a rhetorical analysis. The novel is my personal project, the short story is for my creative writing class, and the rhetorical analysis is obvious for my rhetorical class lol.
I wouldn't say I've been writing non-stop but I do try to squeeze in 1,000 words each day on my novel.
Hey, Cameron. 1000 a day is impressive! And rhetorical analysis... that just sounds cool. :-) GOOD LUCK with your writing!
I'm still working on my novel that has no title other than Funny Gay Paranormal.
OK, that's a lie. I've been lazy and haven't written anything in like two months, if not more. It's sad. I really need to get back to writing more.
Also, make a pit stop in DC before or after New York so I can meet you, lol. Besides, you're more likely to get to my area than I am to yours (or even Seattle). I have no money to make it across the US!
By the way, yay for release date of A Need So Beautiful and for the two blurbs!! :) Totally awesome!
well you must be a really busy im just working on waiting patiently on Nevada falls since i lost my entire revised draft of my book damn computers have to do it again.... so yh the working patiently aint working lol
is bubbs here to agree??
Wow you are a busy lady!
I'm gearing up for NaNoWriMo. It's my first attempt at a YA book in years. I'm nervous but at the same time very excited to try it out. The plan for it is to mix in some drama with a touch of laugher a few tears and some darker moments!
I had no idea A Need So Beautiful was going to have a sequel! Then, I finished it last night and was sooooo hoping it would! I can't WAIT for A Want So Wicked. (This is the huge downside to getting to read ARCs... I have to wait SO MUCH LONGER for the next in the series!!!)
